So after the flurry of the response train ended on the last post it was clear that it was time for new material. As the end of the season ground to a halt, another one started with a bang. The cross fix is on for the cool/cold weather, barricade jumping, grass-sand-dirt-mud-snow-ice fanatics. The Wednesday night under the lights report indicates that competition is fierce but friendly with local hot shot Adam S. dishing out some respect with several others hot on his heals. As his results on the weekends prove, he is advancing quickly in the elite ranks. Certainly is exciting to see. As the blogging world seems to indicate, the cross numbers look to be up this year which certainly seems to be a boost to the local racing scene. The appreciation of individual accomplishment and improvement without the fear of letting anyone down certainly is a refreshing selling point for participation. The fun factor does not hurt as well. If you are looking to give it a try come on down on Wednesday and check it out. No pressures, lots of fun, and lots of folks who want to share the experience with you.
Congratulations to all for their success and accomplishments during the road season. Good luck and good wishes for a safe and fulfilling cross season to those crossers hitting it each weekend this fall/winter.

Save me a beer... coming to a race near you soon.
Nice to see RI in the results for cyclocross. Good stuff to see you extend the season, and fitness.
+1
One of the highlights of Wednesday night cross racing has been the bunny-hopping of double barriers every lap! Matt Bodziony makes it look easy even though the barriers are suspiciously tall. Worth the price of admission!!
We anxiously await Vermont Boy's gorilla-hopping technique on any given Wednesday night. Bring it. Young Adam Sully laps me at about the 13 minute mark. And I'm riding well. As always. I agree with Jim P...Very fun to watch him rip the past couple seasons.
I have asked the course designer to seriously consider the Narragansett Shortcut (similar to Bo-Fest)
Jim P...our Master Blogger, is sidelined with a mashed wing due to his high-speed tumble that concluded his road (and cross) season. The kooks who crashed out the Real Deal should smarten up. If this wasn't a friendly blog, some would probably discuss punching them in their eyeballs for putting Jim through surgery and slings for many weeks. But it's a friendly blog. Anyway..personally, I'm lost without my Wednesday night D-train pacer. Heal, Jim. Heal.
Speaking of lost D-trainers...the White Rhino has declared cyclocrash racing off-limits this year. Probably a good idea since Bill Mark was also seen tumbling in the final sprint in Prospect Park, NY. Then the Rhino grabs a second place to end his road season in Jamestown. He gets a pass for cross.
Bill Y. thinks cross racing is simply nuts. He's a wise man and hopefully taking a much needed break ater 11 wins in 2008. Yes...Eleven (11). 11. Eleven. Wins. In one season. I told him we thought he could do more on the bike. He agrees.
I should pay more attention to Bill Y and the Rhino when it comes to the knobby tires since I tend to smash my kneecap every few laps.
Looking forward to the December NBX cross races in Goddard Park and to seeing RIHans and other NBX friends around the shop!!
Chris
Matt, Thanks for info and encouragement about 'cross last Wednesday night! Had a great time watching and cowbell ringing and hope to try the actual riding sometime! Sarah
